TONE DEAF PRESENTS:

ART'S BIRTHDAY: RADIO CABARET AT THE ARTEL, JANUARY 17, 2013

Tone Deaf, Kingston's unique festival of adventurous sound performance, returns with a special event for Art's Birthday, January 17 at the Artel, 205 Sydenham Street.

Art's Birthday originated with French Fluxus artist Robert Filliou, who speculated that art was born one million years ago, on the 17th of January, when someone threw a sponge into a bucket of water. Today, experimental sound and transmission artists around the world hold special celebrations on this date to recognize the value of art in our lives.

The Tone Deaf Collective's Art's Birthday Radio Cabaret begins at the Artel at 8pm and will feature streaming audio and video from celebrations across the globe, along with live performances by local artists:

Lisa Aalders
Decomposing Pianos
Habits
Fire Moss
AOTH/TOWR

Proceedings will be broadcast on CFRC 101.9fm. Cake will be served and admission is by donation.

Blow out some candles (and possibly speakers) with us! This event is made possible through the support of the City of Kingston and the Kingston Arts Council, and sponsored by CFRC 101.9fm.
